Angrboda Bandogs – Breed Standard Vision

Purpose & Vision

Temperament & Drive

General Appearance

The Angrboda Bandog was created to restore the balance once found in the true working dogs of history — a dog that can think, adapt, and act with purpose. Built to guard, herd, pursue, and protect, this is not a dog of excess but of intent. Every trait exists to serve a function. The Angrboda Bandog is bred for real work, soundness of mind, and physical capability, with function, health, and stability above all else.

General Appearance

Temperament & Drive

General Appearance

Tall, athletic, and powerfully built without unnecessary bulk. The Angrboda Bandog carries an air of intelligence and readiness. The body is muscular but lean, capable of explosive drive and endurance. Males display commanding presence and strength; females show the same drive with slightly more refinement. The breed should appear balanced, efficient, and capable of long days in the field.

Temperament & Drive

Temperament & Drive

True working stability is non-negotiable. The Angrboda Bandog is confident, composed, and mentally steady. These dogs must be capable of independent, calculated decision-making — able to assess a situation and respond appropriately without constant direction, while remaining in tune with their handler.

Teamwork and pack compatibility are critical. Dog aggression is a major fault. Angrboda Bandogs must be able to work together without conflict and maintain focus on their task.

Drive is balanced: high enough to pursue or engage when needed, but intelligent enough to settle when the work is done. Fearfulness, instability, or unprovoked aggression are disqualifications.

Structure

Size & Proportion

Coat & Color

  • Head: Long and proportionate with a smooth, sleek stop — no abrupt angle or deep break. The muzzle should be clean, strong, and allow efficient breathing. Expression confident and intelligent, with eyes alert and focused. Ears may be cropped short or left natural but should not distract from the dog’s expression.

  • Neck: Muscular, slightly arched, blending smoothly into the shoulders.

  • Chest & Shoulders: Deep and well-developed for endurance, shoulders laid back for reach and agility.

  • Body: Strong topline, level back with slight tuck in the flank. Ribcage deep and well-sprung but never barrel-shaped.

  • Legs & Feet: Long, straight legs with clean angulation. Feet tight and durable, suited for hard terrain.

  • Tail: Medium length, tapering naturally, carried level or slightly raised in drive.

Coat & Color

Size & Proportion

Coat & Color

Short, dense, weather-resistant coat. All colors acceptable that do not compromise health or function — including merle, brindle, black and tan, and solid variations. Markings are secondary to performance.

Size & Proportion

Function dictates form — height and proportion take precedence over mass.

  • Males: 29–32 inches at the shoulder; 110–130 lbs.

  • Females: 27–30 inches at the shoulder; 90–120 lbs.
The dog should appear tall, strong, and balanced — capable of speed, agility, and sustained work.

Movement

Movement

Movement

Movement should be fluid, efficient, and purposeful, showing drive and coordination. Gait should cover ground easily with visible power from the rear and clean reach in the front. The Angrboda Bandog should move like a predator — smooth, strong, and ready to react.
